The Swiss system is used for competitions in which there are too many entrants for a full round-robin (all-play-all) to be feasible, and eliminating any competitors before the end of the tournament is undesirable.[1] In contrast, all-play-all is suitable if there are a small number of competitors; whereas a single-elimination (knockout) tournament rapidly reduces the number of competitors, but the best competitor may not necessarily win, as good competitors might have a bad day or eliminate and exhaust each other if they meet in early rounds.

Assuming no drawn games, determining a clear winner (and, incidentally, a clear loser) would require the same number of rounds as that of a knockout tournament, which is the binary logarithm of the number of players rounded up. Thus three rounds can handle up to eight players, four rounds can handle up to sixteen players, ten rounds can handle up to one thousand and twenty-four players, and so on. If fewer than this minimum number of rounds are played, two or more players could finish the tournament with a perfect score, having won all their games but never having faced each other. Due to the fact that players should meet each other at most once and pairings are chosen dependent on the results, there is a natural upper bound on the number of rounds of a Swiss-system tournament, which is equal to half of the number of players rounded up.[9] Should more than this number of rounds be played, the tournament might run into the situation that there is either no feasible round, or some players have to play each other a second time.
The method of accelerated pairings also known as accelerated Swiss[12] is used in some large tournaments with more than the optimal number of players for the number of rounds. This method pairs top players more quickly than the standard method in the opening rounds[12] and has the effect of reducing the number of players with perfect scores more rapidly (by approximately a factor of 2 after two rounds).[13]
Recently, I had to conduct a few school selection tournaments. This time, I used a software called Swiss Manager. It is way better than Swiss Perfect. Though it looks very similar, it has some handy options that are not found in Swiss perfect.
This was tough. Until this point, I had conducted a maximum of 2 tournaments at once. This was a challenge. So I took it up and I did face some issues but nothing major. Swiss Manager helped me successfully conduct those tournaments.
Swiss Manager can be downloaded here. What you download is actually the full software but you will have to activate it with a code to get either light or full version.
Time consuming but totally worth it. Second time making this and by following your well written directions, turned out perfectly. Used a bit of pink gel food coloring and made your chocolate cupcakes and all in all a total hit. Thanks!
And, I added extra the flow and line width for initial layer to get better result.Overall, I was so impressed that the printing quality is so good, no string at all, even use the retraction settings 0.2mm, 5mm/s. I also print it at speed 100mm/s and acceleration 2,000mm/s2, the result is still perfect. I strongly recommend you should have it!
Place the piping bag directly 90 degrees over the center of each macaron template. Apply gentle pressure and carefully pipe for about 3 to 5 seconds, and then quickly pull the bag up twisting slightly at the top.
Egg white powder: Egg white powder is not the same as meringue powder, but some people use meringue powder in the place of egg white powder. Egg white powder is made of only egg whites. They help with getting fuller shells, and specially when adding a lot of food coloring to the batter, because they make the shells dry faster and add a layer of protein to the meringue. I recommend experimenting with it if you can find it. I use 4 grams for each 100 grams of egg whites. You can read more about Egg White Powder here.
I have used this as my go to vanilla recipe, and your chocolate macaron as my go to chocolate, many times and they have always turned out perfect. So many great flavor ideas on the site too. Such a great resource, thanks Camila!
With Daniels new movie Everything Everywhere All At Once slapping its hot dog fingers into theaters (for the still-uninitiated, check out the trailer here), we thought this would be the perfect time to shine a light on the soundtrack for their first feature, Swiss Army Man.
In order to guarantee a perfect fit and to make the installation of the tire as easy as possible, the profiles of DT Swiss rims are designed with tubeless use in mind. However it is always possible to run a conventional tire /tube combination.
The lightweight alloy valve saves 40% weight compared to brass valves. The integrated valve tool in the top cap saves time and effort when it comes to screwing & unscrewing the valve core during tubeless installation. The conical valve base ensures a sealed fit. The DT Swiss tubeless valve perfectly matches DT Swiss rims, to ensure a perfect seal for long, hassle-free rides. To find the right length for your DT Swiss wheel, please use our product support tool.
The highly resistant adhesive DT Swiss tape works as a rim tape and air-seal. It is available in different sizes to match perfectly to the different inner widths of the rims. To find the right size, please use our product support tool.
The DT Swiss tubeless ready kit seals the tubeless ready rim, allowing for it to be ridden tubeless. DT Swiss strongly recommends the use of a high performance tire sealant, even when using tubeless specific tires. When using tubeless ready tires, the use of sealant is mandatory (the sealant seals the tire, which is not airtight in the first place). A tubeless setup only comes to its full potential with a sealant! Regarding the use of sealant, it is important to use a sealant which is compatible with the rim, rim tape and the tire. It must not be corrosive or aggressive in any other way. If in doubt, contact the sealant manufacturer in order not to void your DT Swiss warranty.
Where to try it: The appropriately named Raclette Factory serves variations of the theme in a contemporary setting, while the Walliser Keller in the Hotel Zurcherhof has a more rustic setting. You will also find versions of raclette in all the Christmas Markets, served in handy paper trays, perfect for eating as you walk around.
Lucerne (also spelled Luzern) is a gorgeous Swiss city that sits at the foot of the Alps. This is the perfect kind of town to explore in one day. The city center is compact with just a few key places to visit. The best things to do are to wander the old town, eat, drink, shop, and enjoy the views of the lake. With one day in Lucerne, you also have enough time to ride the cableway up to Mt. Pilatus for stunning views of Lucerne and the Swiss Alps.
From Kriens, ride a series of two panoramic gondolas and a cableway to get to the top of Mt. Pilatus. Along the way, you will pass through two mountain stations. At the first station, Krienseregg, there is a small ropes course perfect for young children.
We drove to Lucerne from Colmar, France. If I remember correctly, we made it to Lucerne by 10 am and were probably on Mt. Pilatus no later than 11 am. We spent a few hours on Pilatus and the remainder of the day in town (maybe by 2 pm we were in town again). An earlier start would be better, to give you more time. And hopefully you will have clearer skies than we did. Cheers, Julie

"We launched our first half-cafs because we realized that caffeine consciousness goes beyond drinking decaf," says Kait Brown, founder of decaf-specialty roaster Savorista Coffee. Today, the roaster regularly features limited edition single-origin half-caf coffees as well as signature half-caf blends alongside their fully decaffeinated coffees.

I have used AROMAT when I lived in my favorite city, Lugano where, Swiss order meets, talian romance, a perfect combination. Now I live in the United States and go through all the trouble to order AROMAT. Obviously I still like it. But I think that it has gotten saltier than 35 years ago, because if I have it on my tongue, it burns. What do you think?
